At the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, we see the power of community every day. It is there in the friends who put the kettle on and organise a morning tea, the colleagues who turn their workplace pink, and the local clubs and businesses who bring people together for a cause close to their hearts.
Behind every community fundraiser are people giving their time, energy and kindness to help someone else. To everyone who has organised an event, baked a cake, shared a fundraising page or made a donation for HBCF: thank you. Your support means so much to our local community.

Small charity. A community with a big heart.
For a small not-for-profit organisation like HBCF, community fundraising plays a vital role in keeping local support available. We are funded by our community, and the generosity of people across the Hunter helps us respond to the everyday challenges that can come with a breast cancer diagnosis.
Funds raised help HBCF provide practical support such as transport to treatment, house cleaning and lawn care. These are the things that can ease pressure on a household, make an appointment easier to get to, or give someone a little more time to rest and be with the people they love.
Every fundraiser also introduces more people to HBCF. A conversation over a cup of tea or a shared post can help a family discover that support is available close to home. When you fundraise, you help build that connection as well as raising much-needed funds.
We see the care behind every fundraiser
We know there is work behind the scenes: the planning, the invitations, the setting up and the packing away. We know that many people fundraise because breast cancer has touched their own life, their family or someone they care about.
Whether your fundraiser brings together a handful of friends or a whole community, we appreciate the thought and effort you put into it. You do not need to organise a large event to make a meaningful contribution. A simple idea, shared with people who care, is a wonderful place to start.

Make October a month of local kindness
This October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we invite you to host a community fundraiser for HBCF. It is an opportunity to gather your friends, family, colleagues or club and turn your support into practical help for local people facing breast cancer.
Choose something that feels right for your group. It could be:
- A pink morning tea: bring people together over a cuppa and some home baking.
- A workplace pink day: add a splash of pink to the working week and invite colleagues to donate.
- A community walk: choose a distance that suits your group and ask friends and family to support your fundraising page.
- A bake sale or market stall: put your team's talents to work for a local cause.
- A backyard barbecue or club get-together: make time to connect while raising funds for HBCF.
Keep it manageable, make it your own, and give people a clear way to contribute. Every act of generosity adds to what we can do together.

Ready to bring your idea to life?
Start by visiting our community fundraising page and registering your fundraiser. You can create a fundraising page, set a goal and share it with your community. HBCF will send you an Authority to Fundraise letter as part of the process.
If you are unsure where to begin, get in touch with our team. We would love to hear your idea and help you take the next step. You can also explore our fundraising tips and resources.
To our past, present and future community fundraisers: thank you for choosing HBCF, for bringing people together, and for caring about local families when they need support.
Let's make this October a month of community, kindness and practical care, right here in the Hunter. 💗
